Imagine life without the Internet. It’s not a nice picture, is it? From menial things like social media to big and critical things like government databases, the Internet has been a crucial part of human society. But for the average person, time in the Internet browser is mostly spent on entertainment, communication, shopping, work, and other things in the everyday life. Can you even count how many hours you have spent on the Internet in your whole life so far?

Did you know that you can get paid just by browsing the Internet? There are websites and apps that make this happen. If you don’t mind letting websites and apps gather data about the websites you visit, and if you have nothing to hide on your browser history, they can pay you just for doing whatever you want to do in the Internet.

So what’s in it for them? Why do they pay people just to browse the Internet?

Well, these websites are gathering data that can help them improve their services. And to motivate people to let them gather the data, they give payments. Don’t worry, they don’t gather personal data like contacts, credit card numbers, etc. They are only interested in the websites you visit or in the apps that you use.

But also, don’t get it wrong. This isn’t anything like a treasure chest that you could just quit your job and make a living just by doing whatever you want in the Internet. This is more like a source of extra money to supplement what you’re already making. Through this, you can make $4-$12 per month, or $15 at most.

Now, let’s take a look at a couple of these websites, shall we?

Cross Media Panel

Cross Media Panel is Google’s efforts to gather that data with the intent of improving their products and services. You can register for free, and it will only take you less than two minutes. You can register three devices; your computer a smartphone, and a tablet. The more you register, the more you earn. We’ll talk about the details later.

Once you register, you will need to connect it with your Google Accounts and install the Screenwise Meter app on each of your devices. This app will track if you indeed are active on the Internet for that week. You will get paid on a weekly basis. Cross Media Panel rewards you $1 per week for every device you use. So, if you have all three devices active online, you get $3 weekly. In a year, you can earn up to $156 just by browsing the Internet.

As for claiming your rewards, they used to have available to claim on PayPal, but sadly not anymore. They do , however, make it up for a wide selection of gift cards you can choose. You can get gift cards from Amazon, Target, Starbucks, and many more.

This website is under a paid survey company called SurveySavvy. So, if you are also into paid surveys, you can check it out. If you would like to know more about getting paid for doing surveys, we have another article for that. See it here.

SavvyConnect is a data research company. Same as Cross Media Panel, they gather browsing data in order to optimize digital products and services. Another thing it has in common with Cross Media Panel is that you can link up to three devices—computer, phone, and tablet, and for each device that has the SavvyConnect app installed, you earn more.

But SavvyConnect pays slightly more than Cross Media Panel. Through SavvyConnect, you can get paid $5 per month per device. So if you all three devices online, you can make up to $15 per month, and that’s $180 per year.

In claiming the rewards, SavvyConnect follows the policies of its umbrella company, which is SurveySavvy. They send payments through check once you request your payment. That’s another thing they have different with Cross Media Panel—they pay with actual money.

That’s two websites. Pretty easy and passive way to earn some extra money. As I said, this is not some major lifehack that you can use to make a living. But hey, you already use the Internet all the time. Why not earn some money while you’re at it?
